Walking into a med spa for the first time, or scrolling through a list of 24 different treatments, can be genuinely overwhelming. Where do you even start?
What does any of this actually do? Is Morpheus8 the same as microneedling? (It's not, but close.)
This guide is organized by treatment category and goal, so you can find what applies to your concerns and click through to the treatment pages that go deeper. Think of it as your Myrtle Beach med spa map.
Injectables: Relax, Restore, and Redefine
Injectables are the fastest category. No downtime, in and out in 20 to 30 minutes, and results that show up within days.
They fall into two main types:
Neuromodulators relax the muscles that cause expression lines. Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, Daxxify, and Jeuveau all work this way.
Best for: forehead lines, crow's feet, the "11" lines between the brows, neck bands, excessive sweating, and jaw slimming. Results last 3 to 6 months depending on the product.
Dermal fillers restore lost volume and structural support. Hyaluronic acid fillers are the most common, attracting water into the tissue to add volume and lift.
Best for: hollow cheeks, sunken under-eyes, nasolabial folds, undefined jawline, and overall facial balance. Results last 9 to 18 months.
Lip enhancement is a specialized filler application focused on shape, proportion, and hydration rather than just size. Well-done lip filler adds definition and balance without looking overdone.
Kybella is a unique injectable that does not fill or relax anything. It contains deoxycholic acid, which permanently destroys fat cells under the chin.
Best for: submental fat (double chin) that has not responded to diet and exercise. Read more in our Kybella deep dive.
Skin Rejuvenation: Texture, Tone, and Glow
This category covers the treatments that improve how your skin looks, feels, and functions from the surface down.
HydraFacial is the most popular treatment in this category for a reason. It combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, and serum infusion in one 30 to 45-minute session with zero downtime.
Skin looks immediately brighter and feels more hydrated. It's an excellent standalone treatment and an ideal prep or maintenance treatment within a larger plan.
Dermaplaning uses a surgical blade to physically remove dead skin cells and vellus hair from the surface, leaving skin immediately smoother and better able to reflect light. No downtime.
Ideal before events or photo shoots.
Chemical peels range from light (no downtime, mild glow) to medium (5 to 7 days of visible peeling, meaningful texture improvement) and address sun damage, uneven tone, fine lines, and chronically dull skin. See our IPL vs. peel comparison for more context.
Microneedling creates micro-channels in the skin that trigger collagen and elastin production. A series of three treatments improves texture, fine lines, mild laxity, acne scarring, and pore size.
Often combined with PRP for enhanced results.
PRP facial uses your own platelet-rich plasma, concentrated from a small blood draw, to deliver growth factors to the skin for improved healing, hydration, and collagen support. Available as a standalone topical treatment or as an add-on to microneedling for deeper effect.
Skin Tightening and Lifting
Morpheus8 is the most powerful non-surgical skin tightening treatment we offer. It combines radiofrequency energy with microneedling to remodel the deep dermis and subdermal tissue, producing significant improvement in skin laxity, jawline definition, and lower-face contour.
Requires 1 to 3 sessions, 3 to 5 days of recovery. Peak results appear at 3 to 6 months.
A full comparison is in our Morpheus8 vs. Microneedling vs. PDO guide.
PDO threads (polydioxanone) are dissolvable sutures that physically lift tissue and stimulate collagen as they dissolve. They produce an immediate visible lift, making them a good option for patients who want a result without waiting months for collagen remodeling.
Results last 12 to 18 months.
Laser and Light Treatments
IPL photofacial uses intense pulsed light to target sun spots and redness. It is the most effective treatment for diffuse photodamage and broken capillaries.
Best done in fall when UV exposure is lower. A series of three to five treatments is typical.
BBL Hero (BroadBand Light) is an advanced IPL technology with published data showing not just cosmetic improvement but measurable changes in gene expression toward a younger skin profile. It is faster, more precise, and more comfortable than traditional IPL.
Laser resurfacing uses ablative or fractional laser energy to remove damaged outer skin layers and stimulate collagen production. More intensive than IPL or BBL, with 5 to 14 days of recovery depending on the treatment depth.
Produces dramatic improvements in texture, lines, and photodamage.
Laser hair removal permanently reduces hair by 70 to 90% over a series of 6 to 8 sessions. Start at least 6 months before the season you want to be hair-free.
Full breakdown in our laser hair removal timeline guide.
Tattoo removal uses Q-switched or picosecond laser technology to break down tattoo ink so the body can clear it. Multiple sessions are required, spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart.
Fading is gradual and results vary by ink color and age of the tattoo.
Body Contouring
CoolSculpting uses controlled cooling to permanently destroy fat cells in targeted areas without surgery or downtime. Treated fat cells are metabolized by the body over 1 to 3 months.
Best for: stubborn fat pockets that have not responded to diet and exercise. Results appear gradually over 2 to 4 months.
EMSculpt NEO is the only device that simultaneously reduces fat and builds muscle using RF energy and high-intensity electromagnetic stimulation. It is the body contouring treatment that also addresses muscle tone, making it unique in the category.
Good for: abdomen, glutes, thighs, arms.
Wellness Treatments
Med spa services extend well beyond aesthetics at our Myrtle Beach practice.
IV therapy delivers vitamins, minerals, and hydration directly into the bloodstream for immediate bioavailability, bypassing the digestive system. Popular formulations include hydration blends, immune support, energy and recovery, and beauty IV drips with high-dose vitamin C and glutathione.
Medical weight loss uses FDA-cleared medications and physician oversight to support weight management in patients who have struggled with diet and exercise alone. Programs are individualized based on health history, goals, and metabolic factors.
Hormone replacement therapy addresses imbalances in estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, and thyroid hormones that contribute to fatigue, mood changes, low libido, difficulty with weight management, and other quality-of-life concerns. Both men and women benefit from optimization of hormonal balance.
Peptide therapy uses specific amino acid chains to signal biological processes including collagen production, fat metabolism, immune modulation, and tissue repair. Peptides are used therapeutically for anti-aging, performance, and recovery applications.
EMSELLA is a non-invasive pelvic floor treatment that uses high-intensity electromagnetic stimulation to strengthen pelvic floor muscles, addressing urinary incontinence and improving intimate wellness in both women and men. Patients sit fully clothed during a 28-minute session.
PRP hair restoration applies platelet-rich plasma to the scalp to stimulate dormant follicles and slow hair thinning. It is a natural, non-surgical approach suitable for both men and women experiencing early to moderate hair thinning.
